September 16, 2012 (ADDIS ABABA) - Muslim Ethiopians have condemned the anti-Islamic film produced in the United States which mocks Islam’s Prophet Mohammed.
The film Innocence of Muslims released on the social website YouTube, have triggered widespread protests by angry Muslims across the globe leading to attacks against US embassies and western diplomatic missions.
According to the Associated Press the film “depicts Muhammad as a fraud, showing him having sex and calling for massacres”.
Ethiopian Muslims in Addis Ababa who Sudan Tribune spoke to on Sunday have strongly condemned the film calling it an “insult against Islam”
Most of them echoed similar comments saying, the film was an attack against Islam, “outrageous” and "unacceptable", further calling on the US government to bring those responsible to justice.
Few others believed the anti-Islam movie was done to deliberately stir violence.
However, the Ethiopian Muslims called for calm. They called on Muslims to refrain from launching attacks targeting western Diplomatic missions.
Dozens of protesters have been killed during the attacks and clashes with police in across the Middle East and north Africa.
The US ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens and three others staff members were killed when angry protesters stormed the US embassy in Libya on Tuesday. However, it is now believed that the attack could have been preplanned by militants linked to Al Qaeda.
