Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan ready to boost multilateral ties

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, May 27, 2005 (ENA) — At the launching of the tri-lateral meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Friday, Ethiopian State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tekeda Alemu, Sudanese State Minister of Foreign Affairs, El-Tigani Salih Fedail and Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, Ambassador Hamdi Loza said the tri-lateral relation among the three countries is essential for countries of the region and the continent at large.

Seyoum_Mesfin.jpgThe officials also said that Ethiopia, the Sudan and Egypt have the responsibility to further enhance their prevailing relations with the spirit of benefiting the peoples of the respective countries.

Tekeda said there exist various areas that potentially boost the tri-lateral relations, and expressed his government’s readiness to further enhance the existing relation with the Sudan and Egypt.

Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, EL-Tigani Salih Fedail said political commitment of the three governments is crucial to strengthen the tri-lateral relations.

According to El Tigani Salih Fedali the political commitment so far demonstrated by leaders of the three governments, encourages other stakeholders of the tri-lateral cooperation to pursue their efforts.

He also expressed the Sudanese government’s desire and readiness to boost the tri-lateral relation among the three countries.

Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, Ambassador Hamdi Loza on his part said the re-commencement of the tri-lateral relations among the three countries has due importance for all the three countries.

Stressing Egypt’s readiness to further strengthen its relations with Ethiopia and the Sudan, Ambassador Hamdi recalled that leaders and Foreign Affairs Ministers of the three countries have recently met in the Red Sea resort of Sherm Al-Sheikh with a view to further strengthening their tri-partite cooperation.

Ambassador Hamdi also indicated the importance of the meeting in creating open forums to discuss on the tripartite cooperation among the three countries.
