Sudan, Europe review progress of peace talks in Kenya
Khartoum, Sep 18, 2003 (SUNA) — The Sudanese and European parties Thursday held a sitting of dialogue at the premises of the Foreign Ministry and reviewed in general the progress of the current high-level negotiations in Nivasha, Kenya, between Sudan government and Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), which are being co-chaired by the first vice-president, Ali Uthman Muhammad Taha, and the SPLM leader, John Garang.
The Sudanese and European parties also reviewed the situation in Darfur states, after the signing of the cease-fire agreement by the government and Darfur rebels
The two parties further discussed the human rights situation in Sudan, besides the government serious efforts to enhance the human rights in all fields, including the respect to the freedoms of religion, press and the rights of non-Muslims
