Sudanese vice-president to offer condolences to SPLM tomorrow
KHARTOUM, Aug 8, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — The Second Vice-President, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, will tomorrow visit Juba town to offer his condolences on the death of Dr John Garang, to the president of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), other SPLM leaders, as well as Garang’s widow Madame Rebecca Nyandeng and her children.
In a statement to the media, the foreign affairs minister, Mustafa Osman Ismail, said that Taha had been determined to attend the funeral ceremony but was unable to do so.
The foreign minister went on to say that during the one-day visit, Taha would exchange viewpoints with the SPLM leaders on the current issues on the political arena, although the main aim of Taha’s visit will be to offer his condolences to the SPLM leadership and Garang’s family.
