Ugandan response regarding Museveni’s visit to Yai
Aug 21, 2005 (Khartoum) — The Sudanese Government received Ugandan response to the questions made by Sudan regarding the entry of the Ugandan President to the Sudan with prior permission.
The Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman stated today that the Ugandan response which the Ugandan Foreign Minister handed over to the Sudanese Ambassador in Kampala confirmed that the Ugandan government understands and respects the Sudanese stand and motives behind raising the memo in this respect. He added that the Ugandan Minister affirmed his country’s respect to the sovereignty of Sudan and keenness on enhancing the bilateral relations and denying any intention to commit any violations that harm this relation, the Sudanese Foreign Minister added.
In his response to the Sudanese memo, the Ugandan Foreign Minister said in the Ugandan President’s visit to the Sudanese city of Yai came as a spontaneous unplanned reaction to a humane incident to see the body of the Sudanese First Vice President John Garang -who was killed in a helicopter crash early this month – before his burial in order to send a message of support to the Popular Movement and the Sudanese People and to indicate commitment of all parties concerned of the peace accord.
