Sudan urges donors to meet pledges for peace process
Oct 2, 2005 (KHARTUOM) — Sudanese Vice-President Ali Osman Mohamed Taha called Sudany for International donors to fulfill pledges toward boosting the peace process in Sudan.
This came during his meeting Sunday at the premises of the Council of Ministers here with the visiting Norwegian Minister of International Cooperation, Helde Johnson.
Taha has affirmed the government keenness to go ahead implementing the peace agreement.
He said that the commitment of the donors to their pledges represents a major boost to implementation of the peace agreement and development, services and construction projects in south Sudan.
Meanwhile, the Minister of International Cooperation, Al-Tigani Fedail, said that the visit of his Norwegian counterpart comes in the context of the exchange of views regarding the follow up of the implementation of the outcome of Oslo Donors’ Conference.
He described the current visit of Helde Johnson as affirming the keenness of Norway to urge the donors to fulfill their commitments.
Fedail said that the Norwegian International Cooperation Minister has got acquainted during the visit with the constitutional and legislative developments in Sudan as well as the implementation of the peace agreement.
