Eritrean president receives Sudan’s Kiir envoy

Nov 6, 2005 (ASMARA) — President Isaias Afwerki last night received a message from the President of the South Sudan Government, Justin Yaac, Minister of the South Sudan Cabinet Affairs delivered the message. The two parties discussed issues pertinent to both sides as well as the implementation of the Sudanese Peace agreement.

Justin told the official news agency ERINA that the message mainly focused on bilateral cooperation as well as peace and stability in Sudan.

He went on to say that Eritrea has played a major role in the previous peace agreements and called for the its continued role for the next 6 transitional years in the implementation of the agreements reached.

He added that as Eritrea share similar war experiences with South Sudan it could share its experiences of development activities and human resource development with South Sudan.

Justin Yaac commended the people and Government of Eritrea for the efforts they made and are making to bring peace in Sudan.

In the morning and afternoon hours, the South Sudan delegation also met with the heads of the ruling PFDJ led by Gen. Sebhat Ephrem, Minister of Defense, and Al-Amin Seid Secretary of the PFDJ and held similar discussions. Both sides agreed to strengthen the cooperation of the political, economic, and organizational affairs between Eritrea and Sudan in general and the PFDJ and SPLM in particular.

The delegation also paid tribute to the family of the late Foreign Minister, Ali Seid Abdalla and said that the late Ali Seid had been actively involved in the Sudanese Peace Process.

The delegation of South Sudan Government returned home today.
