State minister for Foreign affairs in talks with UN official on AIDS

KHARTOUM, 13 Oct. 13, 2003 (SUNA) — The State minister for Foreign affairs, Engineer Chol Deng, met at his office Monday with deputy Director of the UN Joint Programme on AIDS Control, who is currently visiting Sudan to get acquainted with the state’s efforts in this respect.

The UN official expressed during the meeting his appreciation of Sudan’s AIDS Control Programme, stressing the importance of regional cooperation with the neighbouring countries to control the disease.

The State minister thanked the UN official for their effort to combat AIDS, pointing out that the disease is not less dangerous than the mass destruction weapons as it threatens the whole society.

He also affirmed the state’s concern to upgrade the standard of awareness about the danger of AIDS.
