Number of Ethiopian, Eritrean refugees entering Sudan rises
Dec 11, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — The refugee commissioner, Mohamed Ahmad al-Aghbash, has said that the number of Ethiopian and Eritrean refugees streaming into the country had increased.
In the last period, the number had increased from five to ten refugees a day to thirty refugees a day, the Sudanese official said.
Speaking to the state-run SUNA after his meeting with representatives from the UN, donor countries and foreign and local voluntary organizations, al-Aghbash said he understood that there was tension between the two neighbouring countries Ethiopia and Eritrea.
The meeting decided to make wide plans to settle the refugees from the two neighbouring countries which is expected to reach 5,000 refugees.
