Ethiopian PM says Sudan will play effective role in AU summit
Jan 3, 2006 (ADDIS ABABA) — Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi expressed hope that Sudan would play its effective role to come out with effective resolutions towards the issues to be discussed by the Summit.
In an interview he gave to the Sudanese official SUNA, he affirmed that the summit would avail an opportunity for working out effective policies for the protection and promotion of the African culture.
Zenawi described the Ethio-Sudanese relations as excellent in all fields, pointing out that the two countries are cooperating in the fields of consolidation of peace in the region and safeguarding the interests of Africa at the international level, besides electricity inter-connection, construction of roads (Gondar-Gadarif and Hamra-Shouk) as well as another road with Southern Sudan.
He pointed out that there is also joint borders committee that has achieved progress and success. What has been realized in the field of bilateral cooperation is satisfactory, Zenawi affirmed.
