Sudan urges US to support peace implementation
Jan 8, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — The Foreign Minister, Lam Akol, has urged the U.S. administration to continue backing and support to Sudan to enable the government of national unity to achieve peace all over the country.
The minister made the remark Sunday in a meeting with the visiting U.S. congressman and head of Financial Allocation, Jim Koulpy, and the accompanying delegation.
Akol has reviewed steps taken by the government to implement the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
He called for providing the financial support that it has pledged to Sudan at the Donors Conference in Oslo for support to the rehabilitation and development process in Sudan after the signing of the peace agreement.
The American official congratulated the minister on the Peace Agreement, saying that the United States will continue to support Sudan government to bring about peace in Darfur.
