SNLP party sacks Kasiano from the leadership
Jan 10, 2006 (KHARTOUM) — The opposition Sudan National Labour Party, SNLP, has removed Maj-Gen retd Dominic Kasiano Bakhit, from the leadership of the party.
Kasiano was removed from his position as the president of the party due to what the party calls “inefficiency and inability” to lead a political party in the aftermath of the historic Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
The official spokesperson of SNLP, Eng Emmanuel Duku Joseph, told Sudan Radio Service (SRS) on Wednesday 4 January that Kasiano was voted out from leadership by members of the party.
He said Kasiano was sent by the party to Western Equatoria southwestern Sudan last month to publicize the party but could not even communicate with its leaders. He added that the secretary-general of SNLP is now acting as its president.
Efforts by Sudan Radio Service correspondent to reach Dominic Kasiano by phone for comments were futile.
Kasiano is a former member of the 30 June 1989 national revolution command council.
