Rumbek welcomes president al-Bashir

Feb 15, 2006 (RUMBEK) — President of the Republic Omer al-Bashir visited yesterday for the first time Rumbek the capital of Lakes State, and the bastion of the former rebel SPLM. He was well received by Rumbek people.

Bashir_in_Rumbek.jpgThe crown of people in Rumbek turned on streets to welcome al-Bashir and the First Vice-President and the president of Southern Sudan (GOSS) Lt.Gen Savla Kiir Mayardit. There were also parliament members.

As in traditional way, fifteen (15) great first class bulls where been slaughtered for the welcoming of the al-Bashir and Salav Kiir. It was the first time for President Omer Al-Bashir to visited Rumbek since the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in 9 January 2005.

The Rumbek community was happy to see al-Bashir standing on the red carpet in Rumbek State (Buhairat).

President Al-Bashir pushed step for the implementation of the peace agreement in Rumbek appealing for the opening of Rumbek senior secondary school as Rumbek University.
He added also that Rumbek Regional Hospital must be the greatest hospital in Southern Sudan .

Furthermore Bashir said that he would like to construct a road from Khartoum to Upper Nile Bentiu as well from Bentiu to Rumbek directly as highway for they people of Rumbek to get the transport simple.

There must be the agricultural tools for the people of Southern Sudan that can help the community to cultivated their crops simply, as per training to the blacksmith, Electricity, carpenters, and so on must to be trained here in Rumbek.

President Omer Al-Bashir ended his speech by saying “Allah Akber Allah Akber, Hallelujah, Hallelujah”.
