Are SPLM/A heading to right direction?

BY Mayar, Mayar Kout*

Mar 13, 2006 — We still far away from a constructive criticism. But the margin of hoping for changes to better standard would reach that version, it is essential needs to all of us. to work deeply to recognizing our difference with respect, Obviously with those we have opposite to their opinions, we must expected aspect of the logic of the others stand point of views, cultural background, education and whatever…

Recently, everyone have watched through the local television channel, Or maybe you read an article have Press-released on “Feb 24, 2006 (KHARTOUM) – The First Vice-President, President of the Southern Sudan government, and Chairman of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Salva Kiir Mayardit, has issued two decrees, to form the SPLM Interim Political Bureau, and the SPLM Interim Executive Bureau. The SPLM Interim Political Bureau includes 23 members, and the SPLM Interim Executive Bureau includes 57 members. Salva Kiir will head the two bureaus, while Pagan Amun will be their secretary general.

The decrees appointed five persons in the interim secretariat, eight in the Southern Sudan secretariat and twelve persons in the southern Sudan interim secretariat.

The secretariat of Southern Kordofan State and Bleu Nile State are annexed to the South”.

Obviously, I’m not intending to criticize the current “SPLM” leadership, as I know them they doing their part. However, it becomes our concerns to give push to current leadership to either call for a second SLPM/A convention which will engage them put down constructive political commitment to cure all massive that party had fell through it.

Since, the’ Comprehensive peace Agreement’ (CPA) On Jan 9, 2006. The SPLM/A Have exposed itself. Clearly to the people of New Sudan of it inability to compete with a “NIF” Omer, Al-Bashir Party known as National Congress party. There were a main problems we thought that SPLM/A should have a solid Ideologue, to confront the Sudan Government Unfortunately, there wasn’t a set strategy for current leadership that as shown in the three events we have experienced with SPLM/A.

First, Political Structural hierarchy: the new leadership hasn’t articulate a political version along with standard of the principle to comply a great governance that would yield it transform the movement into competitive manner with others political force across the country. SPLM/A hasn’t engage it real members to strengthen its internal building that would avoid a party splitting.

Secondly, SPLM/A’s National Foreign Affairs, Currently leadership hasn’t set clear agendas to corps the dynamic of interests after a comprehensive peace agreement have reached with Khartoum Government. I would like referred to important point that since the division of the ministerial only ministry that NIF have no dispute over it. Was Foreign Affairs. To their stand point of view is that they intentionally knew their records is massive with a sanctions, genocides in Durfer, therefore, they were easily chosen not claim it lets those of SPLM/A to clean their heavily criminal act. Here where I would blame our leadership. During, the visitation of the First-President, President of the Southern Sudan. Commander In-Chief Mr.Sulva, Kiir Mayardit his delegations was includes Dr. Lam Akol Ajakwhin, On the interviewed Mr. President Sulva, had clearly stated that he wasn’t came to Washington DC, seeks for lifting sanctions on Khartoum Government! Affirmatively, his visitation to do with New Sudan states. While, Dr. Lam A, Ajakwhin, was claiming a great relationship between Washington DC and Khartoum. Thus, is a point of controversial Problems SPLM/A needs to make fundamental changes through it second national convention we all hoping to be soon for several purposes.

– A, it would be a chance to outline, the SPLM/A political ideology clear versions on fundamental issues such of social and economic. Brings up a new mechanism to absorb the development capability of confronting new challenges.
– B, the SPLM/A transform a basis of democratic political institutions that process would useful to others marginalize areas of the New Sudan origins.
