First Vice-President, Turkish delegation discuss investment in Sudan

Mar 16, 2006 (KHARTOUM) –Upon Receiving a visiting Turkish investment delegation Thursday, the First Vice President, Salva Kiir, discussed with the delegation fields of investment in Sudan after the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA).

The Minister of Foreign Trade Prof. George Boreng, participated in the meeting.

Kiir invited the delegation to visit rural areas in the south Sudan to get acquainted with the situation and fields of investment there.

The meeting also discussed progress of the distinguished bilateral relations and means of consolidating them.

Turkish State Minister of Foreign Trade Kursad Tuzmen, who is heading the delegation, pointed to the increase of trade exchange volume between Sudan Turkey, explaining that there are 50 Turkish companies operating in Sudan.

He stressed the desire of his country to invest in Sudan at the fields of roads, bridges, aviation and railways.

Also, Tuzmen laid the foundation of the new building of a Turkish school established five years ago in Sudan’s capital Khartoum.

Sudan and Turkey have much in common, Tuzmen said, “We share such a common geography, culture and religion and come from a glorious history and this is reflected in our trade.”
