KHARTOUM, Nov. 17, 2003 — The Humanitarian Aid Commission has accused the Sudan Liberation Movement [SLM] in Darfur [western Sudan] of killing two humanitarian aid workers and abducting three others following SLM’s attack on a humanitarian aid convoy last week in Northern Darfur State.
The humanitarian aid commissioner, Dr Salaf-al-Din Salih, informed Al-Sahafah that the SLM attacked the convoy in Northern Darfur State last week killing driver of the truck and one of the employees.
Salih also said rebel groups have also abducted three Sudanese employees working for Midair [as transliterated] organization. The humanitarian aid commissioner said the government was upset with continuous rebel attacks on relief convoys. He said continuation of such hostilities incapacitates relief work and increases loss of lives because of deterioration of humanitarian situation.
