Sudanese president sends letter to his Eritrean counterpart
Aug 25, 2006 (KHARTOUM) — President Omar al-Bashir, has sent a letter to Eritrean President Isayas Afewerki, dealing with bilateral ties between the two countries and ways of boosting and strengthening them, the state-run SUNA reported.
The letter was delivered by Presidential Assistant, Deputy Chairman of the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) for Political and Organizational Affairs Nafei Ali Nafei, who arrived today in the Eritrean capital, Asmara at the head of a high-level delegation.
The letter dealt with the ongoing peace talks in Asmara between the Sudanese government and the rebel Eastern Front.
For his part, President Afewerki praised the Sudanese-Eritrean ties and appealed for past and pending issues to be resolved.
The NCP delegation had earlier held a meeting with officials of the ruling People’s Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ) and discussed issues of common concern.
