Minister hails Egyptian support to Southern Sudan

Aug 31, 2006 (CAIRO) — Sudanese Minister of Labour and Human Resources Alison Manani Magaya hailed Thursday Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s efforts in support of peace and stability in the Middle East and southern Sudan.

In statements to MENA, Magaya referred to the humanitarian assistance offered by Egypt and other Arab states to Sudan.

Meantime, the Sudanese minister reiterated the Sudanese government’s, as well as the Sudanese people’s, rejection to deploying international troops in the western Sudanese region of Darfur, saying: “This is a final decision.”

Magaya welcomed any African or Arab contribution that would add to the Sudanese government’s efforts to bring into force the Abuja agreements.

As for benefiting from the Egyptian expertise in the petroleum sphere in Sudan, the Sudanese minister said that wide investment opportunities in this field would be available for the Egyptian companies over the coming stage.

Magaya said he reached an agreement with Egyptian Manpower and Immigration Minister Aisha Abd-al-Hadi to provide a training programme in Egypt to upgrade performance of Sudanese cadres.
