Minister of Energy Receives EthiopianCounterpart, Praises Ethiopia’s Role in Regional Cooperation
Jan 24, 2007 (KHARTOUM)- The Minister of Energy and Mining, Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz, has expressed Sudan’s appreciation of the efforts of Ethiopia for reactivating the cooperation in the Eastern Nile Basin, explaining that linking the member countries of the region with electricity network is a strategic project.
This came when the Minister of Energy and Mining received at his office Wednesday his Ethiopian counterpart.
Dr. Al-Jaz said that Sudan is looking forward to consolidate its relations with Ethiopia and to make them a model for bilateral relations between states..
He said that the two countries giving much concern to establishment of joint power projects..
Meanwhile, the Ethiopian Minister of Energy and Mining said he is visiting Khartoum to participate in the 7th meeting of the countries of Eastern Nile Basin, explaining that Addis Ababa will host the coming meeting of the group.
The Ethiopian Minister affirmed the important role being played by Sudan in boosting the cooperation in the region, explaining that the Sudanese – Ethiopian cooperation has witnessed tangible progress in the past years.
