4 Judges of Sudan’s Eastern Equatoria takes oath of office

Feb 28, 2007 (TORIT) — Four judges assigned to serve in Eastern Equatoria state were today sworn in by Chief justice of southern Sudan Supreme Court and president of the judiciary of southern Sudan, Justice Ambrose Ring Thick.

The Chief Justice of the Judiciary of Southern Sudan, Justice Ambrose Ring Thick has sworn in four judges of Eastern Equatoria State, two of first class and two of second class orders.

Speaking at the swearing in ceremony, Justice Think asked state governor to accord full security protection to the judges, while advising judges to work in collaborations with the state authority when discharging their day to day duties.

The four sworn in Judges were of category of; two of first class; Judge Lado Erminio Simkot, assigned to Torit County and Judge Doch Kulang, assigned to Kapoeta north and south Counties. While the second class judges; Judge Phillip Claudio Wani, assigned to Narush- Budi County and Judge Sebit Bullen Bulu, assigned to Nimule- Magwi County.

The swearing in ceremony held in the office of the governor of eastern equatoria state, Torit was attended among others, Governor Alosio Emor Ojetuk of Eastern Equatoria state, Justice Gier Raymondo Legge, President of High Court of Eastern Equatoria State, Justice Ruben Madol, Acting Chief Registrar of Joss, Justice Alino Fula Ezolin in charge of Land Registrar General of Joss, Justice Lagu Transquilino Nyombe, Responsible for Training and Research of Joss, Justice Achol Mading, President Court of Appeal of Central Equatoria state.

Governor Ojetuk told the chief justice and his entourage that security in the state was good and assured them state full support to judiciary experts.

Meanwhile the President of High Court of Eastern Equatoria State, Justice Legge has assured the Chief Justice Think that the state has already given land for constructing judiciary office in Torit and they are ready to start construction.

In another development, Justice Legge requested state police in Torit to speed up investigating pending cases and bring them to his office for fixing date for case hearing. Currently there are 57prisioners including 12 pending cases of murders.
