Sudan Liberation Movement/Army
On May 22, 2007, government of Sudan troops supported by its Janjaweed militia committed yet again, another massacre in Eastern Jebel Marra area, in Southern Darfur. Sudanese Armed Forces attacked the villages of Liba, and Fuguli, killing two civilians and wounding eighteen (18) students from Liba elementary school, some of whom are in critical condition, as well as stealing a large number of livestock from the area. Our troops (SLA), stationed nearby, responded to the distress call from the villagers, and engaged with GoS troops in a five hour fierce battle. GoS troops were repelled, and fled the area.
The continuing scorched-earth policy of the NCP by targeting the people of Darfur, may well lead to the disintegration of the country. Those who support the NCP’s policy are in a sense, committing one of the heinous crimes this century has known. Every Sudanese citizen should make clear his/her position with regard to, either to join the NCP’s genocidal campaign, or stand steadfast against the NCP’s destructive policy. Nonetheless, the SLM/A will continue to provide protection to the innocent people in Darfur, whenever it is necessary.
