US Bush, S. Sudan leader discuss ways to improve peace implementation

November 15, 2007 (WASHINGTON) — The head of the transitional government in the non-Muslim southern Sudan talked with President George W. Bush about ways to revive a peace agreement signed in 2005 that has bogged down in recent months.

Bush_greets_Salva_Kiir.jpgBush and Salva Kiir, vice president of Sudan and president of the southern Sudan administration, met privately Thursday in the White House’s Oval Office and said nothing as they posed for pictures. White House spokesmen gave only bare-bones recaps of their discussion.

Both White House press secretary Dana Perino and Gordon Johndroe, spokesman for the National Security Council, said the two “discussed ways to reinvigorate implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in Sudan.”

The CPA established the southern government and provided for nationwide general elections in early 2009, and a southern referendum on independence in 2011. Yet although Kiir is a vice president of Sudan, his southern government has suspended its cooperation with the Arab Muslim-dominated central government and accused President Omar al-Bashir’s party of dealing in bad faith.

Perino and Johndroe said Kiir thanked Bush for his help in negotiating the CPA and his commitment to its full implementation.

They also said Bush “encouraged Mr. Kiir to continue his efforts to unite Darfur rebels in their attempts to forge a unified political settlement with the government of Sudan.”

The four years of violence in Darfur is related to the North-South warfare that raged for 21 years only insofar as rebel leaders in western Darfur have said they would refuse to make peace if the shaky North-South peace falls apart. Peace talks hosted by Libya to stop the violence between Arab and African Muslims in Darfur currently are suspended.

Bravo, bravo Mr.Bush, your sitting with our beloved President Salva Kiir always shows your high kindness to us southern sudanese who have been so long enslaved by these fucken Arabs of Arabia who assume to be sudanese of Sudan.

We hope the things you descussed with our president will help speed up the implementation of the CPA, we are fed up of Arabs. I hope with your lovely support, they will not cheat us like in the other agrements of Adis-Abab and Abujja.

America, specially your administration makes us smile, and you could observe and prove this if you look at your picture taken during your discussion with our president. We are not easy to smile but it doesn’t mean that we are rude but the long term agression from Arabs made us so.

    Bravo once more
