Presidency meeting appreciates work of border demarcation committee

Khartoum, Jan. 7 (SUNA) – The Presidency meeting, chaired by President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, has expressed appreciation to the role played by the committee on the demarcation of the border between the north and the south of January 1, 1956 in collecting and classifying the relevant documents and demarcating the border on paper prior to presenting its report to the Presidency. State Minister at the Presidency of the Republic Idris Mohamed Abdel-Gadir said following the meeting of the Presidency in the Republican Palace Monday that heard a report by the chairman of the committee Prof. Abdalla Al-Sadik and his deputy Riek Diagor that the committee would move to the final stage after the approval of the Presidency to its report, which is represented in demarcation of the border on the ground, referring to the requirements of this stage of support and administrative coordination from the border states and securing its work. Abdel-Gadir added in a press statement that the Presidency meeting in which governors of the concerned northern and southern states took part besides commanders of the Armed Forces, SPLA, Joint Units, police and the Security Organ, aimed at providing joint security protection for the teams of the border demarcation committee and the administrative support and coordinating work among all the administrative bodies besides mobilizing federal and state media support to enlighten the citizens with the importance of the committee and its important national role in implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. Meanwhile, State Minister at the Presidency of the Republic Joseph Lual affirmed in a press statement that the committee is a national body that comprises federal ministries, Survey Department, the Government of Southern Sudan and border states, a matter that makes it a neutral committee.
