Memorandum from New Sudan Islamic Council (NSIC)

Memorandum from New Sudan Islamic Council (NSIC)
The leadership of New Sudan Islamic Council said confused by claims of Altahir Bior Ajack who alleges to be the chairman of the council.

Presently there are a lot of questions regarding the New Sudan Islamic Council (NSIC), particularly with the present claims by Mr. Altahir Bior Ajack as Chairman of NSIC, the following are some facts, intended to clarify NSIC status.
In 1989 the NSIC was formed and headed by Altahir Bior Ajack, who resigned due to a fall out with the Movement; I replaced him on January 16, 1999, when nominated by late Cdr Yousif Kuwa Makki, and endorsed by the late Chairman Dr. John Garang de Mabior, as shown in the attached Memorandum issued January 16, 1999, with knowledge and attendance of Altahir Bior Ajack.
On the other hand, in the process of establishing the structure bases of NSIC, the South Sudan Islamic Council (SSIC) was formed on 24-28 April 2005, at a conference in Yei town, at which I was elected Chairman of SSIC.

During that conference, on April 26, 2005 a joint meeting between NSIC, NSCC and RECONCILE was addressed by Cdr James Wani Igga, the present Speaker who explained the CPA and importance of the Religious leaders as peace makers in explaining it, fighting poverty, establishing tolerance and Cdr Cdr David Lukanga Moses, the Commissioner of Yei River County welcomed both religions in the county and encouraged such meetings, while the permission for holding the Conference was granted by His Excellency Left General Salva Kiir Mayardit, who was supposed to open the NSIC conference, but it failed to convey, because the airplane that supposed to bring both Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile delegates got stalk at Kurmuk airstrip.

After the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), we opted for authorization from Government of South Sudan (GOSS), to start the formation of states councils and the new Executive Committee of NSIC. That was finally granted by H. E. Dr. Riek Machar Teny V. P. of GOSS, by a letter No GOOS/VPO/J/56.p, dated July 20, 2007, which unfortunately was given to Ezaldin Nimir Deng, who delayed and damaged that process these periods.

Suddenly, without any justification Mr. Altahir Bior Ajack came out with a letter written to H. E. Mary Kiden, Minister of Gender, Social Welfare and Religious Affairs, claiming to be the Chairman of NSIC, he formed Islamic committees from members of national congress party (NCP), forgetting the struggles of our people during the past three decades; something non of us can except it, we want to assured our people that, great corrections is taking place now, and with God willing the will of SPLM and our people will be attained.
