South Africa’s FM arrives to Sudan to discuss post-war reconstruction

March 30, 2008 (KHARTOUM) — South Africa’s Foreign Minister arrived today to the Sudanese to participate in meeting to discuss the Sudan post-war reconstruction.

Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, has arrived in Khartoum to take part in the meeting of the African Union’s Ministerial committee on Post-conflict Reconstruction in Sudan to start Monday in Khartoum.

Director of the African Union Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador, Jamal Al-Sheikh, said that the AU ministerial committee, headed by South Africa, will be briefed by Sudanese officials on the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), particularly the reconstruction and development process as well as the fulfilment of the pledges made by donors of Oslo Conference.

He explained that the African Ministerial committee will visit Juba next Tuesday to meet the First Vice – President and President of the Government of South Sudan (GoSS), Salva Kiir, and senior officials in the Government of South Sudan.

The AU committee on Post-conflict Reconstruction in Sudan includes South Africa, Ethiopia, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, Nigeria, Sudan as well as representatives of the African Union.
