According to the UN sponsored Radio Miraya FM, the SPLM in South Kordofan motivated its decision by the lack of security and the inappropriate representation of the SPLM in the state census body.

Daniel Kodi who is the deputy state governor and SPLM regional leader also invoked the border demarcation, the non-reactivation of the IDPs voluntary return and the lack of the English language questionnaires.

However, the counting operations are started in the state and the SPLM didn’t obstruct their conduct. The real impact of the boycott is not yet clear.

The two-week census, which started today in the whole country, is crucial to prepare constituencies for national elections and confirm or adjust the wealth and power-sharing ratios in central government.

Around 60,000 enumerators and 200 observers are to deploy for the population count costing Sudan and the international community 103 million dollars.

SPLM’s South Kordofan boycotts Sudan fifth census
What a joke by SPLM whether it is in the South, South Kordofan (Nuba Mountains), Sothern Blue Nile or Northern Sudan as a whole. Although the reasons and explanations expressed for the short-lived suspension of census by Kiir or whoever represents him were legitimate, the timing was critically inappropriate thus making those justifications mere nonsense cries and revocation of rightful disclaimer. We all heard and read the powerful and more convincing arguments of Ali Osman Mohamed Taha during his press conference held shortly after the weak Kiir and his SPLM heeded and kneeled to NCP’S call for him to reverse the course of boycotting the census. Up till now SPLM has never gave a single compelling explanation as to why it declared suspension 48 HRS prior to numeration in the first place. The only deceptive out cry came from and by SPLM’S mouthpiece, Yasir Arman, who gave unrealistic clarification that the decision of boycotting was made by the Government of South Sudan and not by SPLM! If this is logic of SPLM, then GOSS is a guardian for the rights of the marginalized than SPLM that pre-occupied people minds and hearts with empty slogan!! Rise up people against this tiger-figure orgnaization which care less about its supoorters.

Now Daniel Kodi added nothing but insult into injury. He is making a mockery of himself and the Nuba (SPLM/A) supporters and sympathizers by boycotting the census in his state! This decision will do more harm than good to the people who are really fed up by indecisiveness of their leaders and their adamant insistence in following the Southerners. The south has, undoubtedly, disowned the Nuba after it guaranteed the option of exercising referendum comes 2011. Yes, SPLM Vision for New Sudan is unparallel doctrine. Sudan will never move forward without it. But people should not be held hostage by it. Any people can develop this vision and implement it for their own good as people worldwide have used and built on Newton Theory and the brilliant Einstein mathematical theories.

Wakeup Nuba from your deep sleep and never again be deceived by all people of Sudan. For how long this is going to continue? SPLM/A had really used and abused and finally excised you as a breast is being removed due to cancerous cells or as a prostate cancer kills a man.
