Kenya mourns South Sudan minister killed plane crash

May 2, 2008 (NAIROBI) — Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Friday mourned the death of South Sudan’s defence minister and at least 19 other people in a plane crash, his spokesman said.

Odinga sent condolences to President Omar Al Beshir after Lieutenant General Dominic Dim Deng’s plane came down 375 kilometres (220 miles) from the southern capital Juba.

“They have suffered there second devastating tragedy so soon after the death, also in air mishap of of their loved (vice) president John Garang three years ago,” his spokesman said in a statement.

Garang died in July 2005 when the Ugandan presidential helicopter he was travelling in crashed into a mountainside in southern Sudan.

    Our nation, once again in a mourning painful mood. This thought of tragedy is almost digging a hole to becomes the only excused in escaping from the term an assessination in the history of Sudan.

    But, if we don’t handle it quickly, this melting conspircy will remain as a nature of death in our Country.

    Liberation of war field is over. But, the liberation of air is now starting internally as former defactors of SPLM has returned with their greedy hurry mood over the leadership.
