Chadian government bans Sudanese music
May 13, 2008 (KHARTOUM) — N’djamena government decided yesterday to ban the Sudanese music in the country depriving the Chadian public from listing or playing one of the most popular music in the country.
In an extraordinary meeting on Monday May 12 the government of Chad decided to close joint border with the Sudan. It further named Libya to represent its interests in Sudan.
According to a decision taken by the government Chadian, Sudanese music is now banned in the country. The public and private media are ordered to stop airing Sudanese songs.
The decision also said that music shops have to stop the sale of the Sudanese music. The government directed to promote the Chadian music “in all its diversity.”
Chadian people share many cultural values with the Sudanese. The Sudanese music is just a facet of the deep-rooted relations between the Sudanese and the Chadian.
Radio N’djamena and Radio Omdurman are to some extend have the same musical library.
Sudan severed diplomatic ties with Chad after an attack by the rebel Justice and Equality Movement against Omdurman, the western part of the capital on May 10, 2008.

it is really a joke , Gov. of chad is fighting sudan by prohibiting the public from listening to Sudan music , i never heard of this before, that means what??, Chadian Gov. is so oppressive that you have to play sudanese music in hide or……….by a walkman ,provided that the Cd not to be caught …………..
