Ethiopia, TFG forces kill 35 Islamic insurgents

July 20, 2008(ADDIS ABABA)-Ally forces of Ethiopia and transitional government of Somalia in a joint military mission early on Thursday killed 35 Islamic insurgents who attempt to attack an Ethiopian military base in Mogadishu.

A statement released from the Ethiopian ministry of defense said that the destroyed insurgents are members of the Al-Shabab and Islamic courts union ‘terror’ network.

Among the dead a former colonel, Ali Walber who was leading the insurgent group is included.

During the raid heavy and light weapons including a vehicle is seized, it said.
