October 17, 2008 (KHARTOUM) — The Forum of Sudan’s People for the resolution of Darfur adopted today the seven themes that should be discussed by the consultative conference.
The forum, which begun yesterday its works, is held following an initiative launched by the Sudanese President Omer Hassan Al-Bashir on the eve of his indictment by the International Criminal Court.
In a sitting chaired by the President Al-Bashir, the conference adopted unanimously the following seven themes of the consultative meeting: Security, development and services, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and refugee as well as voluntary return, reconciliation and social peace, external dimension of Darfur conflict, information, and the possible solution
Abdel-Wahid Al-Nur, the founder of the Sudan Liberation Movement says that his movement would not take part in peace talks unless the government implements a series of measures to mend the consequences of the conflict like the security, the return of the IPDs and refugees to their village besides the disarmament of the Khartoum backed militias known as Janjaweed.
The Sudanese officials today stressed that there is no pre-prepared agenda for the meeting by the dominant National Congress Party, they said the meeting should decide its agendas freely without any Ditka from the Sudanese government and adopts its resolutions that should guide the position of the Sudanese delegation during the talks.
