Sudan to work with Chinese telecom company

December 1, 2008 (KHARTOUM) – Sudan invited the largest Chinese
telecommunications company to coordinate with the Sudanese
Telecommunication Company (Sudatel), said Minister of Finance Awad
Ahmed Al-Jaz on Monday.

Al-Jaz received at his office a representative of Chinese ZTE
Corporation. The two reviewed opportunities of investment in Sudan and
Al-Jaz affirmed Sudan’s keenness to consolidate further its
cooperation and relations with China and to bolster means for the two
countries to partner.

Al-Jaz indicated that technical progress in telecommunications
benefits from Sudan’s strategic location as a link between Arab and
African countries.

The visiting leader of ZTE was accompanying the Chinese deputy
minister of trade during his round of talks with Sudanese officials.
He indicated that ZTE aims to cooperate with the national companies in
Sudan.

A permanent representative of ZTE will follow up to reach the stated
