Sudan detains pilots refusing to take part in Darfur bombing: JEM

February 2, 2009 (LONDON) — A Darfur rebel group today claimed that Khartoum detained pilots who refused to follow orders to carry out aerial bombardments over the conflict ridden region.

The Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) issued a statement saying that an unspecified number of pilots were asked to “bomb villages, water sources and schools in Darfur”.

JEM did not say when the incident took place but hailed the position taken by these pilots.

The rebel group is currently clashing with government troops in the south Darfur town of Muhajriya. Sudanese fighter jets today bombed around the town which is home to thousands of civilians.

Sudanese military flights over Darfur are banned under a UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution but Khartoum insists that it is exercising its duties in protecting citizens from rebel attacks.

JEM urged the Sudanese armed forces “not to allow the National Congress Party (NCP) gang to make it part of internal conflicts”.

Some reports have mentioned that many pilots particularly those from Darfur were imprisoned because they refused to carry out air strikes in Darfur during the peak of conflict in 2003-2004.

Khartoum has been accused of using the air force to bomb civilian areas ahead of ground attacks by pro-government Janjaweed militias and ground forces.

UN experts estimate some 300,000 people have died and 2.5 million driven from their homes. Sudan blames the Western media for exaggerating the conflict and puts the death toll at 10,000.

I would not agree with the Sudanese Government order to bomb the Darfuri villages, because more of civillians death toll will occur, and why not all Darfuri agents united and work towards independence without revenge towards the Sudan’s governments and officials… The Work towards Referendum Independence Darfur 2011.
More of all, the Darfur region will not be for Darfuri control in the future, but this strategic area will become the capital towards all West African tribal Head Quarter towards not only for Khartoum, but the calling towards Middle East, the Voice of West African Arab capitalization.
Includes UNAMID, and it’s Alliance, headed by Nigerian and their allies of Bantu Afro-Arab speaking tribes, and Senegal/Moroc Alliance and Mali, also Bantu Arab speaking tribes of Moors, and N.Nigerian and CHAD.
So, now, Sudan to separate Darfur from SUDAN is the best choice for the future for Khartoum and Northern Sudanese…
I urge don’t bring bombardments of Dafuri villages, because after all, there will be confiscated and Khartoum will face battle against all of Bantu Arabs from West African tribes.
