Government delegation postpones peace talks journey to Chad

KHARTOUM, March 28, 2004 (Sudan Tribune) — The Chadian capital, Ndjamena, will host a conference between the government and armed militias of Darfur in the middle of month of April, the official Al-Anba said yesterday.

The conference will discuss humanitarian problems in Darfur with aim of facilitating the flow of food stuffs to the victims of the conflict in the region.

Meanwhile, the government delegation postponed its journey to Chad until a date to be specified later.

The secretary-general of the Justice and Equality Movement, Hasan Khamis Jarwu, told Al-Anba that he had received a message from the Chadian government on the hosting of the conference in the middle of April to discuss humanitarian situation in Darfur, as well as the need to respect international law concerning allowing organization working the humanitarian aid field deliver humanitarian requirements to Darfur.

He said the conference to be held in Ndjamena will be instead of the one which was supposed to be held in Geneva. He confirmed their readiness to participate in the Ndjamena conference.
