Sudan briefs Security Council members about Chadian raids

May 15, 2009 (KHARTOUM) – Sudan has informed the envoys of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council in Khartoum about the air strikes carried by Chadian military airplanes today.

In a meeting held at the premises of the ministry, Sudanese foreign ministry informed the ambassadors of China, France, Russia, United Kingdom, and United States, of the latest developments in the ground following two aerial attacks by Chadian aircrafts, the official SUNA reported today.

The meeting also was attended by representatives of the United Nations, African Union, Arab League and the Libyan ambassador.

Ali Youssef, the Acting Undersecretary of the Sudanese foreign ministry, who met with the envoys, said Thursday evening that he told them that Chad assault is a serious threat to peace and security in the region.

The Sudanese foreign ministry described also the air strikes as act of war.

Also, Sudan summoned on Friday the Chadian ambassador to Khartoum to protest over the “flagrant violation of Sudanese sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

Two days ago Chadian president said he had been considering to sever diplomatic relations with Sudan.

The foreign ministry also said it would inform the Qatari government, the sponsor of the latest reconciliation agreement, about the Chadian air strikes.

    Dear Heartless government of Khartuom,

    Please stop whining and adopt to respect what you have signed one and for all. Playing double standard is not only wrong, but completely stupid. the idea of backing Chad’s rivals that almost topple the government you sign accord is stupid and I am glad Chad didn’t buy on your trick; and hit back hard to make you look more stupid… what about that!!
