June 26, 2026 (EL OBEID) – A drone strike by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) killed one civilian and wounded four others at a fuel station in central El Obeid on Friday, local sources said.

The attack in the capital of North Kordofan state destroyed and set fire to several civilian vehicles that were waiting in line to refuel.

The strike is part of a recent escalation by the paramilitary group targeting fuel supplies and energy infrastructure along the national highway extending to Kosti and Rabak in White Nile state.

On Thursday, a similar RSF drone strike on a fuel station in the city of Rabak killed two civilians and injured several others.

The RSF has surrounded El Obeid from the north, south, and west as part of a broader strategic campaign to seize control of the largest city in the Kordofan region.

Local sources stated that the paramilitary group is increasingly utilizing drones to target vital power, water, and fuel facilities in an apparent attempt to choke the blockaded city.

The ongoing assaults on civilian infrastructure are aimed at compounding the hardships faced by local residents and forcing them to flee the city.
