Sudan offers joint projects to Belarus in energy, agriculture and industry

August 10, 2026 (KHARTOUM) – Sudan’s Ministry of Energy and Petroleum announced on Monday a portfolio of joint investment projects with Belarus covering energy, agriculture, and industrial manufacturing, according to an official statement.

The proposed initiatives include boosting Sudanese exports, constructing and upgrading grain silos, and localizing the production of tractors, agricultural machinery, and power supply components.

Sudan also proposed deeper oil sector cooperation, including technical studies and field development initiatives.

The move reflects expanding ties between Khartoum and Minsk as both countries seek to strengthen economic cooperation through joint ministerial committees.

Sudanese Energy Minister Al-Mutasim Ibrahim Ahmed chaired a preparatory meeting to coordinate the proposed cooperation files alongside officials from the ministries of finance, energy, and foreign affairs, as well as Sudan’s embassy in Belarus.

The discussions focused on securing project financing through the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus to support the bilateral economic agenda.

Beyond industrial and energy projects, the proposed bilateral package includes capacity building, telecommunications, academic scholarships, healthcare initiatives, and university partnerships.

Ministry officials directed relevant technical bodies to urgently complete procedural requirements and prioritize key agreements to move the projects toward implementation.
