Sudan reaffirms support to Palestinian authority

August 19, 2009 (KHARTOUM) – Sudan has reiterated his support to the cause of the Palestinian people and the ongoing efforts to achieve lasting peace in the region.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) today arrived to Khartoum in a two-day visit for talks with the Sudanese president over peace process and national dialogue. The first ever visit to Sudan comes days after the end of the sixth conference of the Fatah movement.

“We just have finished our sixth conference of the Fatah movement, and we are heading for the inter-Palestinian dialogue, which the Fatah insists on its continuation and success,” said Abu Mazen after his arrival to Khartoum on Wednesday.

In a press conference held this evening after talks, the president Omer Bashir said that “we have a clear position in support of the Palestinian issue, and the ongoing consultation between the Palestinian and Israeli sides through the envoys.”

The Palestinian president, who has difficult relations with the Sudan’s supported Islamist Hamas that controls the Gaza strip, plans to hold election in January 2010. Hamas said it would not go to legislative and presidential elections before signing a reconciliation deal that ends the current internal rift.

The two presidents discussed the outcomes of the sixth conference of the Fatah movement and as well as the latest development regarding the inter-Palestinian dialogue and political negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.

Egypt has been sponsoring six rounds of national dialogue between rival Hamas and Fatah to settle their political differences, but no tangible result has achieved yet.

Sudan reaffirms support to Palestinian authority
You are such a big liar and pretender Khartoum government. How can you support and pay attention to a sick person while you are on your bed lying of a terible disease that has strike your house and has disconnected you from all parts. Could it make sense to talk of peace while you practice terrosim in your country? Is your country stable? where is the sound of freedom? What halt new innovations in your country? Are you a loving peace government? Are not people who press for the wind of changings, crying in a humiliating prison? Let a lone Palestinian problem. Peaceful government should step out to solve Palestinian issues.
