Two women killed in Sudanese army airstrike on North Kordofan water source
November 4, 2026 (UM BADR) – Two women were killed, and 10 others were injured on Wednesday in a Sudanese army airstrike targeting a water source in the Um Badr area of North Kordofan state.
The bombing coincided with a second consecutive day of military operations between the Sudanese army and its allied forces against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the border areas of North and West Kordofan.
The Emergency Lawyers group said in a statement that a military Antonov aircraft bombed the Um Badr area in the Sodari locality using three explosive barrels.
The strike ignited a fire in the Dar Bahr neighbourhood, resulting in the deaths of two women and injuries to 10 others.
The group noted the bombardment also targeted the Al-Kabjark water station at Khor Dardaq, destroying water tanks, pumps, and solar panels.
The Al-Kabjark station is the second main facility residents rely on for water, and its destruction severely worsens the local humanitarian crisis.
The lawyers’ group condemned the bombing of residential areas and water sources in locations they said were devoid of any military presence.
They described the attacks as part of a continuous pattern of assaults on civilians and essential infrastructure, which threatens lives and drives further forced displacement.
The statement called on the international community to condemn the attacks, exert pressure to stop systematic violations, and hold perpetrators accountable.
Meanwhile, military confrontations continued for a second day between the army and its allies, including the Joint Force and Special Action Forces, against the RSF in the Kordofan borderlands.
Military sources said the army and its allies are advancing rapidly toward the Al-Khuwei and Al Nahud areas in West Kordofan after seizing the Um Marahik area and dozens of nearby villages on Wednesday.
The armed forces’ movements in North Kordofan extend military operations launched in late June.
These operations have enabled the army to seize wide areas, including main supply routes used by the RSF since the conflict erupted on April 15, 2023.
