Governor asks speaker to go on forced leave

By Ngor Arol Garang

September 24, 2009 (ABYEI) — The Northern Bahr el Ghazal State Governor, General Paul Malong Awan Anei, today issued an order asking Angelo Marach Thiik, the Northern Bahr el Ghazal State Legislative Assembly to consider going on forced till further notice.

The state assembly earlier this month passed a no confidence motion against its Speaker Mr. Thiik on eleven counts related to mismanagement of the state parliament budget, lack of consultation with the leadership of the ruling party and working with an international NGO, CSI, in a clear violation to the state constitution.

In a letter titled ‘Subject: Force leave till further notice’ Governor Malong informs the Speaker Thiik to stay away from office till informed of any resumption.

The letter with copy to Deputy Speaker Hon. Celina Awien Majok, State Director of National Security, State police commissioner also advised speaker to hand over office properties and equipments such as speaker office, stamp, heading paper and internal notes to his deputy without any failure.

It says failure to execute the above aforementioned directives will lead into a certain measures.

The speaker received the message with shivering voice asking members of his state what constitutional crime he has committed that prompted governor to interfere in parliamentary affairs.

“I do not remember having done anything wrong to Governor Malong since his appointment till individuals with personal grudges entered his office with fabricated lies, unsubstantiated financial scandal and mismanagement of the assembly budget,” he told Sudan Tribune said by phone from Aweil.

He called on the governor if he considers him guilty of a crime to form an independent committee to investigate his two accounts with Nile Commercial and Ivory Banks.

“I hardly understand how it became Paul Malong and Angelo Marach issue, I thought it was parliamentary affairs that does involve Governor,” said an official from the state who declined to be named.

The official speaking from Aweil further added that there can never be any progressive society “if threats and uncivilized acts are used as alternative to settling disputes.” He called upon state governor and speaker to responsibly handle this issue so it does not explode into sectional conflict.

    Wow

Things this days are going hotter, that is the same thing which happened to the Jongolei speaker but this one sound little better because there are some charges level against him. But Jongolei spsaker was just removed without apparent charges may be merely for tribal interest.

Well let push on for now and see what tomorrow have for us.

    God bless
