Eritrea accuses Ethiopia of new attack
January 3, 2010 (ADDIS ABABA) – Eritrea on Sunday said that its forces engaged in a clash after Ethiopian forces launched successive attacks through Zalanbessa, a disputed area on the border between the two countries.
A statement released by the Eritrean ministry of information claimed that after the attacks Ethiopian forces were swiftly driven back.
“Ten Ethiopian soldiers were killed and two others were captured” said the statement, adding “six AK-47 automatic rifles, a machinegun and communication equipment are captured.”
However an Ethiopian official from Government Communication Affairs Office dismissed the claims saying a “total fabrication”.
The government official said that no Ethiopian forces were engaged in the reported clash.
In an ambush, two Eritrean rebel groups on January the first claimed killing and wounding 63 Eritrean troops on the Zalanbessa front, the same front Eritrea is saying was attacked.
Tensions remaining still high, any simple incident at the borders could the put the two rivals into a full-scale conflict.
The 1998-2000 border war between Ethiopia and Eritrea killed 70,000 people.

This two countries need to sit down and iron out their differences on the discussion table, back stabbing eachother will not solve your problems, it will only make both your countries move backwards, it is better your leaders understand this problem from now.
