Ndjamena talks to discuss cease-fire monitoring

NDJAMENA, April 22, 2004 (SUNA) — Delegations of the Government of Sudan and arms holders in Darfur discuss in Ndjamena Thursday issues pertinent to the monitoring of the cease-fire agreement which was signed during the first session of the negotiations, in the presence of the Chadian mediator and representative of the African Union, who arrived in the Chadian capital Wednesday.

State Minister at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and member of the government delegation Mohammed Yousif Abdalla said in a statement to Sudan News Agency (SUNA) that the session of negotiations would be held at 01:00 p.m. (Sudan local time) Thursday, adding that the talks would also tackle arrangements for the national conference on Darfur.

He explained that the main item on the agenda of this session of negotiation is pertinent to the political issues concerning Darfur.

The minister described the arrangements for the session as excellent as all preparations for making it a success have been completed, pointing out that the opening sitting created confidence among the negotiators.
