JEM and 5 rebel groups agree to join efforts for unity

March 16, 2010 (DOHA) — Darfur powerful group, Justice and Equality Movement and five factions from Addis Ababa Roadmap group have agreed in Doha to join their efforts and to work together.

The deal comes one day before the signing of a framework agreement between the Sudanese government and the rebel Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) which encompasses three factions from Addis Ababa group.

The parties agreed to establish a Joint mechanism “seeking to achieve unity or close coordination,” read a press release issued on Wednesday. The signatories also extended their invitation to all the resistance forces keen to achieve a just peace in Darfur.

JEM spokesperson Ahmed Hussein Adam told Sudan Tribune that the deal “constitutes another prove of JEM seriousness to bring together freedom fighters in one structure in order to achieve the aspirations of Darfur people”.

He further added the move expresses the rejection of ongoing plot to falsify the will of Darfur people, stressing the need to postpone April elections to enable the ongoing efforts in Doha for a comprehensive peace.

Besides JEM, the unity agreement is signed by the Sudan Liberation Movement Unity Command (SLM-Unity), SLM Juba-Unity, the United Revolutionary Forces Front, the Democratic Justice and Equality Movement and breakaway commanders from SLM- Abdel Wahid Al-Nur.

    Dear Brothers and Sisters, Reader,

unfortunate for JEM to refuse the unity for all rebel group in Darfur, because everyone who believe he’s fighting against oppress or want to bring back Darfurian society
dignity, than he’ll agree with all who dependent about our people in the ground,
And one thing is very annoying me is agreement without protecting those you’re signing in behalf of (ex) the civilian those are still the women are rape and men are killed let me ask you very clear question after this agreement who’s going to protect those from Janjaweed and the still raping and killing the people every day,
and who’s going to remove the New settler in the place of those are run away from the war,and Government settle new people and give them full service instated of darfurian,(ex) I live in Wahid Salih in my place is totally resettle by new people I don’t no them whom are they they’re using our land,we don’t no who’s going to fight for us everyone believe that he’s rebel leader but he’s not he just looking for some money or seat same as civilian Main minwi he’s taking responsibility and government going right and he’s going left,It’s mean this sign it’s mean just paper is not in the ground for the people of Darfur,
