SPLM chairman Salva Kiir casts his vote for Bashir

April 18, 2010 (JUBA) – The incumbent President of Southern Sudan and Chairman of the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), Salva Kiir Mayardit, has revealed that he voted for the incumbent President of the Republic of Sudan and National Congress Party’s candidate, Omer Hassan Al-Bashir, during this week’s presidential elections in the country.

Kiir, according to the BBC Arabic service on Saturday also added that he expected the majority of the people of Southern Sudan to have voted for Bashir.

The SPLM chairman last week on Friday, two days before polling, announced to the party supporters and potential voters in the country that his party had no presidential candidate to vote for after the withdrawal Yasir Saeed Arman.

Arman abruptly withdrew from the race, accusing the northern dominant National Congress Party (NCP) of pre-rigging the elections, coupled with the continuous violence in Darfur as another factor for the pullout.

Bashir is expected to win with a landslide victory for the national presidential seat while Salva Kiir is also expected to win the race for the Southern Sudan presidency.

If both parties win the elections as expected, Salva Kiir will continue to occupy the position of the First Vice President of the Republic; the most senior deputy to Bashir in accordance with the CPA which has secured the seat for Southern Sudan’s President during the interim period.

A number of heavyweight opposition parties in the north have boycotted the elections before the exercise began last Sunday.

But the race was expected to be an easy one for Bashir after his main challengers, Yasir Arman and the ex-PM Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi who is the UMMA party chief withdrew from the race.

ARMAN LEADING THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE IN SOUTHERN SUDAN

SPLM agents throughout southern Sudan and Abyei reported that the withdrawn candidate for Sudan President Yasir Saeed Arman is leading the results of vote for the presidency despite his pulling out since March 31.

In some polling stations in Juba, Central Equatoria State, Arman got over 200 votes while the NCP’s candidate the incumbent President, Omer Al-Bashir, got less than 10 votes, said the SPLM organ, the SPLM Today.

Sudan Tribune reported yesterday that Arman obtained 233 votes in Warcuei Polling Station, Lakes State as Bashir got 107 votes. Today, he also got a landslide victory in Tong polling center, Bor with 99.7% of vote.

Earlier this month, Dr. Luka Monoja Tombe, southern Sudan minister of cabinet affairs, urged southerners to cast their vote for Arman saying he will remain on the balloting papers because he withdrew after the papers had been printed.

Final results of the multiparty elections are expected to be announced by Tuesday next week as initially announced by the electoral body.

The exercise is the first of its kind in 24 years in the country was initially designed to allow a peacefull transition towards a democratic system and paves the way for the referendum on self-determination of Southern Sudan.

The indictment of the Sudanese President for crimes against humanity and war crimes by the International Criminal Court in March 2009 prompted the NCP to make Bashir re-election its top priority restricting public freedoms, and marring the electoral process by many irregularities.

NCP and SPLM ended 21 years of North-South war by signing the IGAD brokered Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and became partners in the Government of National Unity established in accordance in September 2005 in accordance with the peace deal.

    Patriots,

Kiir has now accepted that he is a traitor to the cause of democracy and aspirations of the people of the South. How in the world can be vote for al-Bashir? It is true to believe that he had been threatened with a coup as revealed in the news. Weaken Kiir will not be able to stand up to Bashir when he starts putting up roadblock in the path of referendum. South is doomed under his leadership. It will never even have a credible referendum.

If Salva Kiir vote for Omer El Bashier rather than CDR Yassir Arman, then it would be clear that there is abig problem within this SPLM. Now, SPLM (Cdr) Arman is leading 99.7% in greater Bor and huge percentage in Lake State.

SPLM need not to just guess for probability because It’s always either positive or negative outcomes. Hoping for Bashier to give South Sudan afree of charge referendum in the exchange of withdrawing CDR Yasir Arman in the presidential race is alethal.

    To Salva Kiir Mayardit,

This is not how politic works. You should not give abad reputation to South Sudanese for voting for Omer El Bashier rather than you to cast your vote to Yasir Arman. What politic are you playing if you vote for the predominent enemy.
I am very disapointed on this issue because your calculation does not serve the interest of South Sudanese at large. Are you and your traitor Machar sure that you guys will take the South Sudan to the better place without another war?
I doubt if Bashier will give South Sudan free referendum without sound of gun. Caution! i know that we South Sudanese will not accept Bashier aggression, but it’s agreat mistake to put him to power peacefully while the laws had chased him away.
This is adisgracing leadership because you can not vote for enemy you know than your brother you live with. Shame !

That is the spirit and attitude of dinkas addicted to Arabs, you fail to recall the worse life hood the dinkas were living under arabs before Equatorians invent rebellion. I was far to my villages within the last few day to vote for my freedom and rights, yet today in Juba I come to realized the ugly side of dinkas motivation. You vote for arabs means your ready to remove GOSS department in Equatoria. No room for dinkas, arabs, Goss, corruptees, criminal and ignorance in Equatoria.

What the hell is wrong with this dude? We all know that his face has been tormented with scars and my guess is that, the whole world by now knows that he is a screwed face, so why hide behind that ugly hat. No wonder he casted his ballot in the wrong box. What a same for all southerners in or out of the motherland.

I have nothing against Salva as a person, butt he just can’t make the cut as a president. Everything about him totally supports the fact that he is a plain peasant.

    Bravo Salvatore Kiir,

You are a wise leader who knows that Bashir is the father of the CPA. You have not prostituted to vote for other northern hyenas who can tomorrow deny that they did not know any thing about CPA.

Voting for Bashir doesn’t mean liking him as a person, but rather it is about voting for CPA and its further implementation until referendum. I thank you so much for the wise decision.

Yes, I agree with you that most southerners have voted for Bashir. I myself voted for him here in Washington DC.

I thank him for being the first northern leader to sign peace with the South on self-determination since 1997/2005. I thank him for giving us a breathing space for five years in the semi-independent South Sudan. I thank him for implementing about 90% of the CPA.

I voted for him to continue holding him responsible for the implementation of other main issues such as North-South border and referendum. Bashir remains the best and nicest devil we know.

But I warn him that should he wake up drunk one morning and say something opposite about the referendum, I am ready to kick his butts. As for now, he is the best among all the northern hyenas. He has brought us to a very far distance of possitive miles no body, EVEN HIMSELF CAN NEVER UNDO!!!

Thank you Kiir for casting your vote for him. You knew what you were doing!

Let forget them and start a new topic,or defend on them forever.

    Gatwech(Tut yual), Kim Deng,and likes

You should embark recognizing that the SPLM loyal States are voting for Cdr Yasir Arman for Sudan president. I have told you before that Arman still in the race because there is no way that SPLM can withdraw him after the dateline. You attempted to make just squarrel noise, now the truth is right at your face. In greater Bor, Arman has 99.7% vote and 100% for Salva Kiir leaving Dr Lam Akol with 0%. See, this is how politic works.

Also in lake state, Arman lead in awide gap in which his vote is 233 and in fact you will still get his huge precentages in Warrap State, NBG,EBG,CBG,and few Greater counties of Ngok in Upper Nile and Unity let alone other prostitute of Bashier.

Now, what are you going to do because the South loyal States are voting for CDR Yasir Arman and also the Northern States are voting for him right there. I wise he win this election so that you can passout.

My friend, your short sighted politics is nothing to me because i reason beyond the opaque materials.
Who tell you that Arman is against the separation of the South. It your mentality of Nyagatism of riek macahr which encouraged you to make noise but that will not help you mr little born in 1990s.

What are the cues that help Southerners that CDR Yasir Arman is against the South? do you think that Bashier is better than Bashier because he baselssely trick SPLM that he will just give South Sudanese free referendum. Are you sure mr small skull?

Just make your own noise because that will not distorted our mind because it’s just a vessel which is making noise at the moment.

I don,t really care whether Arman win or lose, but iam yearning for the respect of CPA so that SPLM will not fall into the group of violators. You have to think twice that Bashier is not going to just give South Sudan a free referendum, better prepared for the war in and during the 2011 immense.

Are you sure we will get referndum with the exchange of the armnan withdrawal? none!

    Greater Equatoria ,

Thanks dear brother for telling that fool the truth.

The withdrawal of Yassir Arnman is not that pleasing and that is why many States are now voting for him.

This Gatwech is Khartoum prostitute who once defect in SPLM and Support Bashier regime from 1991- 2005.

What can we expect from this fool? we anticipated that he is always against the betterment of Southerners.

What can he get if Bashier win and latter denny the South referendum through militray violation as he does always.

This fool fail that Bashier did not give South Sudanese referendum with the exachange of Arman withdrawal. None!

He(fool) should not that politics is “adirty game”. You tell what you don,t mean.

    Dear Readers

I do not blame Dinka Bors for voting for Mr. Yasser Arman foolishly.

They didn’t know what withdrawal mean.

Look, Salva Kiir and Yasser Arman voted for Al- Bashir.

Remeber Dinka Bors, when the candidate withdrawn from race, is no longer a candidate no more, which means that you do not need to vote for him/her no more.

Your voting for Mr. Yasser Arman was nothing, but wasting of your energy.

The Dinka Bors of Barbaric Dinka Boy are nothing, but an animals.

    thanks

    What a confused leadership?
What a confused leadership? Kiir had voted for Al Bashir and Dr Riek might had voted for al bashir too and his wife in unity state. What is different between Lam, Kiir and Riek? Lam was being falsely accused as being an agent of Bashir. Now the SPLM top leadership had voted for Al Bashir. Who is doing the rignt thing now? The marginalised people of the Sudan are now like sheep without a sheperd. The SPLM top leadership had brought disgrace and shame to the marginalised people of the Sudan. The decision you are making today will haunt you until your grave.

if he voted or did not vote, what is the problem, everyone has the freedom and rights to do what he wants and vote for whoever he or she see fit, is that not what democracy is about? if there is no other credible leader left on the ballot papaer then who else should be voted fore? al turabis party? many people voted for bashir or against bashir, it is not a problem, because this is a consequences of democracy and wel all have to accept it.
