SPLM calls for new alliance to support South Sudan referendum

May 8, 2010 (KHARTOUM) — The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) today called for the formation of a new political alliance to establish the New Sudan and to support southern Sudan right of self-determination.

pre_Arman.jpgThe leadership of southern Sudan ruling party, SPLM, held recently a series of meetings in Juba to assess the after-elections situation and to define the political line of the party ahead of the referendum on self-determination in southern Sudan schedulled for January 2011.

The SPLM accused its peace partner, National Congress Party (NCP) of deliberately delaying the formation of the referendum commission and warned that the elected parliament in southern parliament may hold it without the participation of the northern Sudan ruling party.

The deputy SPLM Secretary General for northern Sudan, Yasir Arman called Saturday on the “New Sudan and Democratic forces” in northern Sudan to form a broad alliance with his party to establish the New Sudan.

Arman further called upon all the “national forces” to develop Juba understanding and define a common vision connecting between the struggle for democratization, self-determination, popular consultation and a just solution to Darfur conflict as one package for a genuine democratic transition and full implementation of the CPA.

The Juba alliance is comprised of the SPLM and other Northern opposition parties as Umma party, Popular Congress Party, Sudanese Communist Party. The democratic Unionist Party joined weeks before April general elections.

Addressing a message to the ruling National Congress Party, the former SPLM candidate for the Sudanese presidency, urged it to accept a program of national consensus based on the CPA implementation, democratic transition and the resolution of Darfur conflict as solution of the national crisis.

The withdrawal of Yasir Arman from the presidential race followed by the boycott of the elections in northern Sudan generated some divergences within the party and showed also two wings: one focusing on the referendum while the other more combative on the issues of democratic transition and removal of NCP from power.

The multiplication of statements by the SPLM leadership members on the issue of referendum and democratic transition meant to reassure the party’s supporters and allies and mobilize them.

Yasir said that the New Sudan vision remains valid across geographic and ethnic variations in the country, stressing that voluntary unity of Sudan cannot be maintained without it. He also said the SPLM formed a committee to study the future of the party and challenges it may face after the referendum.

DESTABILIZING SOUTHERN SUDAN SECURITY

Speaking about the last month bloody clashes between the southern Sudan army, SPLA and Darfur Arab tribe of Rizeigat on the disputed north-south border, Arman said the parties have to strengthen all the mechanisms provided in the security arrangement like the ceasefire commission, Joint Defense Board, and the deployment of UN peacekeepers. He said these means should be reinvigorated to calm any escalation and prevent return to war.

“The United Nations should verify and should be present in all the places where there are violations of the security arrangements,” Arman said. “This is the mandate of the United Nations force here — they should take this mandate… seriously,” he added.

The SPLM official also accused Khartoum authorities of working to destabilize the security situation in the south in order to hamper the 2011 referendum.

“We think there is a big game to destabilize the south from within and from without. From within through militias and other connections and from without in the name of certain tribes,” Arman said.

He also said that renegade George Athor was receiving logistical support from outside the south, but he did not provide further details.

Athor a former candidate for gubernatorial election in Jonglei state clashed twice since April 30 with SPLA. The southern Sudan army deployed troops in Jonglei to surround his position in the immense state.

Goss need serious attention before 2011 because the enemy of peace will start destabalizing the interest of South Sudanese through bribing and other sources of creating unstable South to reached referendum. The Bashier goverment know how to bet those militias whose aim is to get food and; as a result, they create chaos because of just only something to eat. Those militias in the South must be scrutinized before 2011 because they only rely on food since they are food orienters since the formation of SPLM. They are food lovers and that make them less proud of their own place.
    Thanks

The corrupt SPLM leadership in Juba is beginning to pay attention to the drift and lack of direction of the party that has been going on since Kiir and traitor riek took over. Let’s not forget that these two gentlemen had betrayed SPLM in the past and had actually decided to rise up against their people. Kiir’s uprising was later defeated. The party must do two things for it to regain the trust of the people. It must eliminate rampant corruption in the South and invest in the region, and also work for the aspirations of the other two regions that joined South, Southern Blue Nile and Nuba Mts.

It is also tricky to form any alliance with the old sectarian parties in the North because their intentions remain unknown. Are they just seeking alliance to dislodge NCP from the power and then backtrack on referendum process or are they seriously seeking to bring new political dispensation in the country? This is something that will be seen in the near future.

The sound of the Trumpet comes from the feeling depth of its player”

SPLM had becaome a very cheap coy of the comunist regimes world wide, practicing all the kinds of Ben Gorion, and never learn from its mistakes.Standing like a mountain confronting NCP,all around the corners, and opressing its own people.Declaring the Presidential mandate for all SPLA commanders and political cadres as well,to enrich themselves regardless of the urgent demand to a real development in the infrostructue.Since then we managed to know that, why Dr: John Garang been assasinated!!!!they killed him to vacate SPLM/A chieftan“The Leadership” and instate a puppet ones.

Mr Armaan, had failed all the marginalsed people of Sudan,he feared a threat by the NCP,will salvage the CPA and declare the Jihad against Spla/m.Now after all what happened prior to the elections, and the launch of capaign, what kind of a deal that has been propsed to SPLM to avert the NCP presidential candidate to emerge as a legitimate winner, and thus he escapes the ICC warant of his arrest,or prosecuting.S,SPLM had acompliced in the crime against humanity, which is a clear violation of Geneva convention, that they intended and persistively planned and arrange this crime.

The call of Yassir Saeed Arman,to the masse3s of the democratic forces in Sudan,to alien with SPLA/M,after SPLA/M turned its back on us during the elections???SPLM/A had undermined the former National Democratic Alliance, when Pagan Amum was its GS,and then formed a new coalition with northern opposition parties to assist in the process of the democratic transition that will lead to the removal of the NCP from the power!!!!Now there is no trust by the northern political paries on SPLM/A promises or obligation. The political pillar of the international relationships, and even domestically,to share withe them a common ground of their political strategies, and tactics…..

There is no any citizen of Sudan can forget or forgive the treason by their leadres……

Where is your proof Mr Arman – people are sick of you and Amun stating things in the media without proof or evidence. You two are the ones trying to cause trouble and chaos before the referendum. You lost the elections, please bless us by shutting that communist big mouth of yours. Unless you want your old murder charges brought up again and we send you to the ICC !!

I can read between the lines that Mr. Yassir Arman is trying his best to form a new political party in the North called “New Sudan Democratic Party”. He knows that he has been disowned by the Mother SPLM and has no hope in it any more, especially when the refererndum ends up in independence of South Sudan next year or after. Go ahead, Mr. Arman and good luck to your new party in the North. Leave the South for the Southerners alone!

The SPLM as a party has lost all credibility with its natural constituency after what it did during the elections. The leadership of the party was warned that tinkering with election would spawn rebellion. And now, we have Athor. From our analysis, the SPLM has seen nothing yet. In Uganda, Museveni went to the bush because of a rigged election. In two years or so he was in power. Those who rigged him out lost and some of them have now passed away. It is possible that the Athor rebellion is just a flash in the pan and will soon peter out. But this is no consolation that others will not appear after the referendum. Amum, read your history well: remember Angola, Mozambique etc. You should not take Eritrean and Ethiopian dictatorship as your role models. This will only lead to grief.

    ATTENTION!

Yasser Arman is ONLY getting 5% of the voting on Sudantribune survey. Ahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa…………

This means that the claimed 90% of votes he got from the South during the elections were rigged and false.

How come he now gets only 5% if he were that popular?

Please check the voting among the best potential successors to Salvatore Kiir Miyerdit.

Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon is ever leading which proves his popularity beyond the rest including the so-called son of late Garang, Pagan Amum, who is trailing behind by wide margin.

    Ahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa……
