Northern Bahr el Ghazal state appoints new cabinet

By Ngor Arol Garang

June 24, 2010 (AKON) — The governor of Southern Sudan state of Northern Bahr el Ghazal on Tuesday announced a new cabinet. The long awaited cabinet after announcement of the hotly contested April polls in favor incumbent Governor Paul Malong Awan Anei, excluded some of the previous ardent and key supporters.

The new faces in the cabinet include one of senior spy officers with the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS), Colonel Madut Dut Yel who displaced a woman who then became an advisor on Gender and Human Right.

The other new face described as the youngest minister in the cabinet is the ministry of finance, Ronald Ruay Deng. Deng, who previously served as director for planning in the ministry of finance, skipped his position.

The ministers, advisors and commissioners who have not made it back included political advisor, Pio Tem Kuac Ngor, Security advisor, Akok Bol, Aweil East county commissioner Diing Aher Ngong, Aweil centre County commissioner Dhieu Nyiwel to name but few.

Reacting to the announcement of the cabinet, Akuei Ajou, in Aweil town, congratulated Governor Malong for formation and announcement of the new cabinet, saying he has played fair and enticing politics to his supporters.

He however cautioned the rest never to regret for support they have given during elections. “Those who supported General Malong during elections should not regret if they have not been appointed, because appointments were made on the basis of merits,” he said.
