A team from Agaar Community Association in USA, Canada and Australia visited the state this week and met with the governor, Chol Tong Mayay, during which confidential envelopes were given to him by the team.

Team leader Samuel Deng, said that Agaar community had contributed funds in supporting Lakes state health ministry. “We have container loaded with medicine shifted on June 15, 2010; the ship is now on its way to [Port] Mombasa. That ship is [fully] loaded with medicines to supply drugs to Rumbek hospital,” he said.

Governor Chol, while appreciating the contribution, added that the state needed more support in terms of infrastructure, health and education as well as capacity building to staffs in various institutions. Chol said the state needed skilled people to come back and contribute to the development of the state.

The visiting head of delegation, Samuel Deng said the community members in the Diaspora wanted to contribute to the state development if proper communication channels were established with the state government.

Also the referendum of the people of Southern Sudan is taken seriously abroad by the youth. “Our position is clear, we are ready for separation whether Khartoum government accepted [it] or not. We are ready for Southern Sudan referendum outcome in all kinds either peace or war,” said Samuel.

He said the citizens of the state in the Diaspora are also concerned about the ongoing insecurity incidents in Lakes state.

However, the organized forces lack transport facility and equipment. Mabor affirmed that training of police command units will be prioritized, saying the police forces at counties level will be given equal serious training.

The current governor of Lakes state, Mr. Chol Tong, has been right from his compaign for the current position, credited with credentials that majority of Lakes state believe will be translated in to smart programs. Unlike his predecessor Awet, who cowed his opponents with witchcraft, Chol has got all what it takes to be the leader in the modern context. The said aboad pledges are proved that now is the time for all patriotic citizens of Lakes state to give a helping hands. My advice to Mr. Tong would be to distant himself from the old crooks and thugs who have misconptualised politics as a game of enriching oneself on the expenses of the poor. Carry on with inclusive, accountable and transparent governance and you will always have our support behind you. Remain richly blessed.
