Sudan’s Kiir hospitalized for exhaustion in Kenya: GoSS

July 9, 2010 (KHARTOUM) — The first Vice President of Sudan who is also South Sudan’s president Salva Kiir has been in the Kenyan capital since last week for medical check-up after falling ill to exhaustion, said officials from the Government of South Sudan (GoSS).

“It was exhaustion. He simply was not feeling well but there was nothing specific,” the minister of cabinet affairs in the oil-producing region, Kosti Manibe, told Reuters.

“He did have some check-up there [in Nairobi]. There was nothing wrong with him. He just needs to rest … People should not be worried at all” Manibe added.

The GoSS official did not say why this was not disclosed at the time but indicated that Kiir will return to Southern Sudan capital of Juba on Sunday. He said the president’s check-up would not delay any of the discussions.

Tabitha Boutros Shokai, a member of the political bureau of Kiir’s Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), said the president had gone to Nairobi for a general check-up and was in good health.

Kiir has not been reported to be suffering from any health issues in the past and is generally believed to be fit.

Sudan’s Kiir hospitalized for exhaustion in Kenya: GoSS
God will bless Salva Kiir Miyardit, but it is unfortunate to hear that Salva Kiir is hospitalized for exhaustion in Kenya hospital. By the way, this is unclear information! Did the reporter mean “Myasthenia” general term for muscles weakness in medical term or what did he mean? I thought that Salva Kiir Miyardit is admitted in one of the Southern Sudan hospital. Salva Kiir Miyardit always talk about development in the Southern Sudan, but I don’t really understand what he mean by the word ” development” itself. Development as a word itself doesn’t mean to said it all the times as a tool by mouth, but it is needed to be put in practice. We do have a special hospital in Southern Sudan, then Salva Kiir Miyar could not even when to Kenya for medical care. Shame and shame!!

Now, if we do have development in Southern Sudan, then Salva Kiir Miyar as a figure wing could not seek for medical attention in Kenya hospital. It could be a shame to Salva Kiir Miyardit himself as a Vice President and a President of the Southern Sudan. What did he do with the budget that the Khartoum Government always gave to GOSS? If Salva Kiir Miyardit when to Kenya for Medical check-up, then what is the point for him to be a leader of Southern Sudan? How can we trusted Kenyan people and the always go by money?

What I realized is that, it is not an exhaustion, but”Hyperlipoproteinemia” maybe the cause in Salva Kiir Miyardit ongoing health. Salva Kiir Miyardit needs to loss some weight otherwise if not, then it will lead to “Atherosclerosis”- abnormal condition in which blood in the arteries can not move due to the accumulation of fat in the arteries and as a result, the fats can prevent the circulation of blood to other body vessels. At the same time, it cause Heart Attack”Myocardial infarction”.

I wish Mr. Kiir a quick recovery from Nairobi (where he was flown for exhaustion treatment as we were told). Let him be taken to Mombasa to relax in the Indian Ocean and forget for a while the stress of the flashback of bad leadership that has led to existence of no good hospitals and treatment centers in Southern Sudan. Let him come back immediately after the treatment because we need him in Southern Sudan now. Let Kiir learn a lesson for his future political career that politics is an exhausting work if you don’t manage it well and if you allow mess and worries to be all over.
