Southern presidential adviser attempts to mobilize youth to register in Lakes state

November 24, 2010 (JUBA) – The presidential advisor for legal affairs in the government of Southern Sudan Justice Telar Ring Deng has traveled to Rumbek the capital of Lakes state on Wednesday to access referendum registration process.

Speaking to Sudan Tribune, Justice Telar said that he hope to encourage youth to turnout to register for south Sudan’s self determination vote.

He said that all Lakes state members of parliament in Juba, as well as ministers joined state Governor Chol Tong Mayay to advocate for a good turnout referendum registration.

Ring is traveling by road to access registration centers in Yirol West county where he intends to register for the January 9, 2011 referendum.

“I am going to be register in Yirol West county at my constituency and I will vote there on January 9, 2011 – I would like to encourage [the] entire people of Lakes state to turnout to register their name”, said Ring.

Lakes state minister of Information and Communication Marik Nanga Marik, says that registration in the state has improved since the process began on November 15. Registration ends on December 1 leaving on six weeks to prepare and finalize the voter lists for the referendum.

The south is widely expected to vote to become an independent country in the poll, which is a key part of a 2005 peace deal ending over two decades of north south civil war.

    Your pleasure Justice to show to our youth a tangible example to register, and your going home to register in your constituency geographic can also encourage people from rural areas to come and register. I appreciate your approach to our people of Yirol West County.
