Arab League congratulates Sudan over framework peace agreement
CAIRO, May 27, 2004 (MENA) — Arab League Secretary-General Amr Musa congratulated on Thursday the Sudanese people in the south and the north over the signing of a peace agreement.
Khartoum government and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Wednesday signed a framework peace agreement [as published] Blue Nile, Nuba Mountains and Abyei.
The move initiates steps towards a cease-fire to be followed by an overall agreement ending Africa’s longest-running conflict.
Musa viewed the step a leap forward towards stability and creation of a new Sudan.
He voiced hope the Darfur crisis would be resolved as well especially in light of the huge efforts being exerted by the government
