Unity state, S. Sudan’s new university welcomes new staff
October 10, 2011 (BENTIU) – Unity state opened its joint private / state funded university on Sunday.
Bob Odiambo, the vice chancellor of the university said on Sunday the staff and students had celebrated the arrival of four new professors.
The speaker of Unity state, Simon Maguek Gai said the university would be “very useful for the people of Unity state.”
The new professor John Paul Odero, who has ten years experience teaching in universities in Kenya, said that the set up of Lich University can be compared with Makerere University of Uganda, one of the best in East Africa.
Odero said that although many of the students “left their education for the war” he was still hopeful about their futures.
The high education committee will be coming to the state this month to assess the university.

Great news. Lich University in Lich state or currently called Unity state, will be one of the best universities in South Sudan. Currently it is the only recognized and registered private university in the whole of South Sudan followed by Catholic university there in Juba.

I have never heard of a secondary school in unity state to provide students for the university, hence a misplace idea of having the university.It is like putting the cart before the horse

It seem some of the writers view this University as a state UNIVERSITY only and some are appreciating the role played by our government to have a registered University in south Sudan. one of the mistake made by state authorities is because the vice chancellor is a foreigner as there is no phd older in the state. he/she must be from the state or within south Sudan.
